About time!

Sorry for the delays in updating. But now that Spring is coming we're coming out of our hibernation and posting our progess. We had originally hired a contractor back in October to do our roof framing for us. That has turned out to be the big mistake of the project. After delays too numerous to count we ended up firing him and finish the job ourselves. That entailed finishing hanging rafter brackets, stacking the logs for the front window prow and building the window frames (and lots of other little odds and ends that he left undone.)

On to the pics!

Roofing getting done.

The 'unfinished front'

Fireplace delivery! Just in time for really cold weather. And the disappointing knowledge that too much negative pressure (read 'giant holes in the house) means it won't work right. Yet.

And snow. Lots of snow

Entry door. Still behind a sheet of plywood on the outside, but we get to enjoy the interior view.
Building the window frames out of 3x10 redwood buck. Easier to do down here than 15' up in the air...
Window delivery!
Window breakage!!! And a lesson about proper material storage.

Uncle Jake helping out trimming in some windows. (and no, it wasn't him who broke the one above :) I baited the trap, Kami set the trap, and Josh sprung the trap)

Interior framing starts.

Plumbing and HVAC going in.

Front windows all done! Thanks to a long hard day put in by Josh and Grandpa

And that means that the fireplace works now. Hurray!

And garage doors mean that we can lock it up tight at night now, instead of chaining things up or taking everything with us.

More later! Thanks for checking in.
